Hundreds of Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield families are getting some help this Christmas Season.
In cooperation with Wal-Mart, Operation Homefront is giving away more than a million dollars worth of toys to families of deployed and injured soldiers across the country.
Parents were invited to come to the YMCA in Hinesville today and get three gifts plus a book per child.
“We are giving back to just show our support. I myself am a veteran and I live here in the community. Here in the community, not only do we have associates who have loved ones who are deployed but just being a staple in the community we like to give back to show our support,” explains Shonetta Williams of Wal-Mart in Savannah.
“Its just nice people are taking the opportunity to do this for the children because they are affected by the deployment and it makes it better,” says Jessica Jones the mother of five children and wife to a deployed Third Infantry Division Soldier.
In addition to handing out toys Operation Homefront will also be giving out Wal-Mart gift cards to more than fifteen hundred additional families in 30 cities.
