Former Savannah Man, Jamerson Vashon Smalls, Sentenced To 21+ Years

Jamerson Vashon Smalls, an Atlanta resident originally from Savannah, has been sentenced to nearly 22 years in prison after pleading guilty to a number of cocaine charges. Edward J. Tarver, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia, says evidence showed that Smalls was responsible for trafficking in excess of 50 kilograms of cocaine from Atlanta to Savannah during 2007 and 2008. Tarver added that Smalls was found to be a leader of the conspiracy and was in possession of a firearm at the time of his arrest in August 2008. Tarver added that "there is no parole in the federal system" and Smalls will be required to serve 5 years of supervised release following completion of his prison sentence.
Smalls was one of forty-five defendants indicted in November 2008. 15 defendants have been sentenced in the case to date, with another 25 pending sentencing.
