Chatham County Health Department to Hold H1N1 Vaccination Clinic

WHAT: H1N1 flu vaccination clinic
WHEN: 3:30 – 6 p.m., Wednesday, December 16
WHERE: Family Resource Center, 705 East Anderson Street, Savannah
WHY: The Chatham County Health Department is now offering the 2009 H1N1 influenza vaccine to anyone six months of age and older. In an effort to make the vaccine more easily accessible to Chatham County residents, the Health Department will hold a H1N1 flu vaccination clinic from 3:30 – 6 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16 at the Family Resource Center on Anderson Street.
Those at higher risk for complications from the H1N1 flu are still strongly encouraged to get vaccinated as soon as possible. Those groups include:
• Pregnant women
• Household contacts and caregivers for children younger than 6 months of age
• Healthcare and emergency services personnel
• All people 6 months to 24 years old
• Persons aged 25 through 64 years who have health conditions associated with higher risk of medical complications from influenza.
There is no cost for the vaccine although Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance carriers may be billed a nominal administrative fee.
