FORT STEWART, Ga. -- Hundreds of people braved the cold and rain to honor the fallen soldiers of the 3rd Infantry Division Saturday afternoon.
Family and friends gathered at Fort Stewart to lay wreaths at the base of more than 400 eastern redbud trees at Warriors Walk.
Each tree bears the name of a service member killed during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Brigadier General Jeffery Phillips spoke during the brief ceremony, and a poem called warriors walk was read by Susanne Guss.
Among those who came were service members remembering their fallen comrades.
This was the third annual Wreaths for Warriors Walk ceremony.
