Drunk Downtown? Call for a Free Ride

» 0 Comments | Post a Comment

Hoping people will drive safely and sober this holiday season AAA and Budweiser are teaming up.
They will once offer Tow to Go, a free, confidential program that's offered to everyone.
All you have to do is call 1-800--AAA-help and a tow truck will take your vehicle and you home.
To remind you of the service Savannah Chatham Metro P.D. will have this car parked throughout the city.
“Call somebody to come and get you if you have to. Because whoever you call in the middle of the night to pick you up is going to be much happier to get that call from you then to be getting a call from a doctor or police officer telling them you are in the hospital or killed in a car accident,” says Wendy Purcell a drunk driving victim and now a volunteer with MADD.
“Don’t get into a situation where you are a couple of drinks into the night and then figure out how you are going to get home. Figure it out before you go out,” points out Joanna Newton of AAA.
Since the program kicked off in 1998 nine thousand people have taken advantage of the service.
