All Schools Affected and When Everything Happens.
West Savannah:
--Hodge Elementary closes June 30th, 2010 and is relocated to the old DeRenne MS facility in the fall 2010 (contingent on Housing Authority of Savannah (HAS) conveyance of property for new Gadsden by June 30, 2010 and results of feasibility study / available funding for capital expenditures to renovate facility).
--New Beach High is built on combined Beach / Hodge campus.
--New Gadsden is built on its current location (contingent on acquisition of property from HAS) as a neighborhood P-5 school with Core Knowledge.
--Garrison becomes dedicated P-8 Visual and Performing Arts school with Core Knowledge in the fall 2010 (8th grade to be added in SY 2011). Students will audition into the middle grades program, and rising 9th grade students who complete the Garrison program are anticipated to be fully qualified to pass the rigorous academic, behavioral and audition requirements for competitive admission into Savannah Arts Academy.
West Chatham:
--Bloomingdale becomes a neighborhood P-5 school (Performing Arts program
consolidated at Garrison).
East Savannah:
--Shuman facility becomes a K-5 neighborhood school in the fall 2010 (rather than a dedicated performing arts middle school).
--Spencer remains a neighborhood P-5 school with Core Knowledge.
--East Broad becomes a P-8 neighborhood school in the fall 2010 (phase in upper grades over 3 years) with Core Knowledge (rather than a 4-8 school).
--Thunderbolt remains open as a P-5 neighborhood school for the foreseeable future.
Islands:
--Islands returns to original timeline for conversion to middle school in the fall of 2010.
--Timeline for Coastal Middle conversion to high school accelerated by one year (to fall 2010).
--Coastal High School Biological / Environmental Sciences program becomes open enrollment.
Mid-Town:
--Bartlett is reconstituted and remains as a 6-8 school (to serve students from midtown), and adds the Middle School Center for Advanced Learning open enrollment program (from DeRenne) rather than becoming a dedicated 6-12 school.
--JG Smith remains a P-5 “traditional school” with the Core Knowledge sequence and open enrollment.
--Heard Elementary remains a P-5 “advanced learning school” with the Core Knowledge sequence and open enrollment. Rising 6th grade students who complete the Heard program and continue to meet the advanced learning criteria will be automatically enrolled at the Middle School Center for Advanced Learning at Bartlett without reapplication.
Southside:
--Georgetown becomes a neighborhood P-8 school in the fall 2010 (phase in upper grades over 3 years).
