Thousands of people lined up at the Savannah Fairgrounds Saturday to get some help feeding their families this holiday.
SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Thousands of people lined up at the Savannah Fairgrounds to get some help feeding their families this holiday.
More than 2,500 families will have a Christmas dinner thanks to the several local churches.
They gathered Saturday to hand out the basics for a big holiday meal to folks in need.
The idea was to reach out to the less fortunate and give them some help and food for the holiday.
"They're getting sweet potatoes, peas, sugar, cake mix, mac and cheese, cornbread mix, white bread, canned food. This is the basics. This is not in most cases where people are getting a hot meal, but this is a meal that can feed the family for several days," said Pastor Freddie Hebron of the Christian Revival Center.
This is the twelfth year the churches have banded together for the giveaway.
