SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Authorities said a man is under arrest for an armed robbery that happened Saturday outside Oglethorpe Mall.
Savannah-Chatham Metro Police said it happened just after 6:00 p.m. Police said a man used a knife to cut the strap of a woman's purse and fled.
Patrol officers and officers with the SCMPD Jingle Bell Patrol, which operates during the holidays, began searching for the suspect and stopped his car as it was trying to leave the parking lot.
Jeffrey Allen Braswell was arrested and charged with armed robbery and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime. Police said the victim's purse and a knife were recovered from his vehicle.
Braswell was taken to the Chatham County Detention Center and is expected to face a judge Monday.
