Holiday travel is rebounding this season across the country, but remains depressed in Georgia.
ATLANTA (AP) - Holiday travel is rebounding this season across
the country, but remains depressed in Georgia.
AAA Auto Club South estimates that 87.7 million Americans will
travel during the Christmas/New Year's Holiday, from Dec. 23
through Jan. 3.
That's up over last year and regional vice president Kevin
Bakewell says it's evidence the economy is rebounding.
But Florida and Georgia are projected to show a 4.7 percent
decrease in overall travel versus 2008 while in Tennessee a three
percent increase is projected in holiday travel this year.
Officials say part of the reason is families choosing to travel
for Thanksgiving instead of Christmas.
