Thinking about what those New Year's resolutions should be? Why wait until the 1st? (or the 4th?)
We're just a few days away from New Year's and that means many of you are getting your resolutions ready.
Exercising and losing weight and quitting smoking are considered the top three resolutions.
Fitness experts say if your resolution is to lose weight and exercise, don't wait until New Year's or even next Monday. Go ahead and start now!
“The key to being successful is making small goals. A lot of people will come in and be like ok, like I want to drop 50 pounds right off the top and if they haven't dropped 50 pounds in like 3 weeks, they're like oh, this isn't working I give up. You have to make small goals and take small steps to get where you want to be goal wise,” explains Reese Brown, personal trainer at 24 Hour Fitness/Fitness by Reese.
Reese says just because you're working out, it doesn't give you a free pass to eat whatever you want. Throw those holiday cakes and cookies out now.
If you’re just starting with the work out, it’s always good to have a workout partner to motivate you. Also, if you’re not a morning person, don’t decide that your workouts will be in the morning. If you’re exhausted after work, don’t make that your work out time. Pick a time that you’re at your best so you can be successful.
If you have heart or lung problems or are not used to physical activity, consult a doctor before beginning a workout regimen.
