Some people say the best way to learn an area is to get lost, but bad thing is---that doesn't always leave the best impression of the place you're visiting.
That's partly why the city of savannah is considering a new signage system that would be implemented in the downtown area. It would give tourists and those of you who aren't completely familiar with the downtown layout a better understanding of where major landmarks are and the easiest way to park and get to them. This afternoon- some of you came out to give your input on the idea. Some people who work downtown say signage would make a difference.
This comment is from Quincy who sells pizza downtown. "I have a lot of people that come in asking where the cemeteries are. I guess they've seen Midnight In The Garden of Good and Evil, and they want to see the cemetery, but there's no where like really pointing out where they are and stuff like that. I mean they have the tourism maps, but it just has the street names and that's about it. Maybe if they put the different landmarks on the maps or even the signs on the road would help a lot." Don''t expect to see new signage anytime soon. Tourism Administrator Bridget Lidy says the plan is still a work in progress.
