New Book Offers Fresh Perspective on How to Stop "Doing the Diet"

SAVANNAH - As part of her mission to educate women on how to live their best lives possible and achieve a more complete wellness, Deborah Crespo, RD, LD and Nutrition Coach, has created Health and Wellness Style: The Smart Woman's Guide to Balance, Wellness, and the Enjoyment of Food.

The book, which serves as a journal as well as an educational resource, is a practical, step-by-step guide to help women ditch their old, unhealthy habits and enjoy a more splendid life.

"There is so much information out there we're on overload. People don't know what's the truth; it's easy to be confused," she said.

The book's main purpose is to reconnect women with the idea of food as a way to a full, abundant, and vibrant life rather than a medication--or even worse, an enemy.

"It helps you find something that compliments your lifestyle and find those healthy foods that relate to you. In general, we don't have a strong connection with food in general anymore," she said. "We've lost the connection to food in terms of appreciation."

The book also has words of inspiration, suggestions and ideas, and reliable nutritional information from a registered dietician who almost a decade ago revamped her hectic lifestyle making health a priority.

Because of its simple principles and easy to follow format, the ideas are accessible to any woman including those who work or have families--or both.

About the Author:
Deborah Crespo is a registered, licensed Dietitian and Nutrition and Wellness Coach in Savannah, Georgia specializing in preventive nutrition, weight management, and wellness coaching and counseling. She started P.H.A.B. Nutrition, Inc. with the purpose of assisting others in making the transition from "diet and health confusion" to finding Positive Healthy Approaches to Better Nutrition. In 2008 Deborah joined the team at Savannah Integrative Medicine where they take an integrative, balanced approach to health and well-being.

Prior to becoming a Dietitian and Coach, Deborah graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Johnson and Wales University in Rhode Island, with a major in Hospitality Management. During her eight years in Food and Beverage Management, she lived in various places throughout the United States and overseas. After personally experiencing the effects of stress and an unbalanced lifestyle, Deborah realized that she needed a change in her "health" style, and began studying natural health and wellness. This led her to Georgia Southern University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Nutrition and Food Science.
