It's probably the most high-tech police patrol car ever built.
Instead of buying a regular passenger car and then installing the necessary equipment, a company called Carbon Motors has built what it says is a faster, cheaper, and safer vehicle for the nation's law enforcement.
The Carbon Motors E-7 is the world's first purpose-built law enforcement vehicle, specifically designed by law enforcement for law enforcement.
All the emergency lights are integrated into the vehicle straight from the factory.
It also comes with license plate cameras that can detect up to 1,500 license plates per minute and cross-check the tag numbers with national databases.
The computer is built into the console, and the controls for communications, radio and siren are built into the steering wheel, so the officer doesn't have to take his hands off the wheel.
The E-7 also comes equipped with homeland security features, including an air ventilation system that has radiation, chemical and biological sensors.
Carbon Motors Chairman and CEO William Santana Lee says the E-7 gets 40% better fuel economy and is capable of running on biodiesel.
Carbon Motors expects to announce a price for this vehicle next year, and production is set to begin in 2012.
Georgia is one of five states the company is considering for its manufacturing facility, which could mean 10,000 new jobs.
