Pedestrian Hit, Killed at I-516 Exit 5

Interstate 516 was closed for several hours Saturday after a pedestrian was struck and killed.

Interstate 516 was closed for several hours Saturday after a pedestrian was struck and killed. Savannah-Chatham police tell us the male victim tried to cross 516's eastbound lanes from the median around 7:30pm when a white van struck him. An off-duty EMS worker driving by pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The eastbound lanes from Ogeechee Road to Veterans Parkway were closed for about five hours as officers investigated.
