Every month a Chatham County student is recognized for outstanding achievement by the superintendent.
Lauren Cummings, a Jenkins High and Woodville Tompkins student is the superintendent's pick for January.
Lauren is very involved in school and the community.
She's captain of dance line, chief editor of the yearbook, and an executive board member of the Chatham County Youth Commission.
"It just helps me be a better person and it's going to get me farther in life and it's going to help me to be a prosperous person in the world."
Lauren tells us that she wants to be a Registered Nurse and later on...she wants to become a Massage Therapist and open a day spa.
