The Bluffton Police Department in conjunction with the 14th Circuit Law Enforcement Network will be conducting two Public Safety Check Points in the Bluffton area on January 9, 2009. The first will be on Bluffton Parkway between Simmonsville Road and Buck Island Road. The second will be on Highway 46 by New Riverside subdivision. The check points will start at 2000 hours and end approximately 0200 hours on January 10, 2009.
Public Safety Check Points are established to ensure the safety of all citizens using the public roadways. Officers will be looking at vehicle registrations, driver licenses, and insurance cards. They will be enforcing all appropriate state laws to guarantee the well-being of everyone using the roadways. Also, if you are going to use alcoholic beverages this weekend, the Bluffton Police Department recommends that someone in your group be the designated driver. If no one can drive you, please call for a taxi to provide a safe way home. With your cooperation we can all enjoy a New Year.
