As expected… the first cold front came through yesterday evening. It has brought a polar air mass in. Highs today area wide in the low 50s. The 2nd front… the unusually strong arctic push… has moved all the way through the Dakotas into the central plains this morning and heading toward the Midwest. In this taste of cold air… International Falls Minnesota dropped to -38 this morning.
Cold tonight… but not terribly. Lows from the upper 20s inland… to the mid 30s on the immediate coastline.
The second and much stronger surge of Arctic air will push off the coast Thursday afternoon. Here are some of the forecast lows Thursday night/early Friday morning. Expected length of freeze time could be as much as 12-14 hours.

Friday’s high will be unseasonably cold. While the current forecast indicates 45 for the high… we may struggle to hit 40 in some places… which means a good deal of the morning will stay below freezing.
Friday night another extremely cold night… bitterly cold…. Forecast Lows include around 13 to 16 hours below freezing in some inland areas.
