Savannah Alderman Van Johnson is headed to D.C. for the inauguration.
We caught up with him at the airport before he boarded his plane. Alderman Johnson tells us this is a once in a lifetime experience he never thought he'd be able to witness.
We asked him what he plans to bring back to Savannah.
“Every cheap gift I can find on the streets of D.C., but I think more importantly, just a renewed spirit. People are optimistic, people are hopeful and hopefully I can transfer some of that hopefulness in Washington back here to Savannah," explains Alderman, Van Johnson.
Johnson says inauguration day will be a great day for America because a man was elected for the content of his character, not the color of his skin.
