During Super Museum Sunday (February 8), the Coastal Heritage Society will offer FREE rides on its newly-completed passenger car at the Roundhouse Railroad Museum. The rides will take place every half-hour from 12 noon- 4 pm. Admission to the museum will be free during these hours as well. The car will be hauled behind a historic diesel locomotive. We will also offer tours of the inside of several of our historic rail cars. In addition, there will be blacksmithing demonstrations and, in our special kids’ cars, children’s activities throughout the afternoon. Visitors will also be able to take part in special “hard had tours” of historic preservation projects underway at the site.
While this is a one-day event, we plan to begin regularly-scheduled passenger train rides and car tours at the Roundhouse later this year.
The Roundhouse is located across from the Savannah History Museum/Visitors Center on Louisville Road just west of the intersection of MLK, Jr. Blvd. There is a new entrance off Louisville to a gravel parking lot offering access to the site.
For more information, contact the Roundhouse Railroad Museum at (912) 651-6823.
