SENECA, S.C. (AP) - A company that makes hospital supplies has
laid off 119 workers at its South Carolina plant.
The Anderson Independent-Mail reported Thursday that Covidien
laid off the temporary workers at its Seneca plant, but will retain
503 full-time workers.
Officials at the company's main office in Mansfield, Mass., say
the layoffs are a result of a fall in demand for of some the South
Carolina plant's products. The facility in Seneca makes compression
devices, medical gauze and bandage products.
The plant, formerly called Tyco International-Kendall, has
operated more than 50 years.
