State health officials are working on a new Web site that will allow diners to access more information on inspection reports before eating out. The new Georgia Environmental Health Information System Web site will include the inspection forms with specific violations and inspector notes. That will allow consumers to better understand what a score means, said Mike Allison, environmental health manager for the Richmond County Health Department. He said a score can be misleading because a restaurant could still score in the 90s even with a major violation such as undercooking hamburgers. A spokeswoman for the Georgia Division of Public Health said the Environmental Health Information System will be available online by year's end. She did not specify when.
