Diversity at Work at Camp Lighthouse

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Beginning this Sunday, children from all walks of life will come together to bond and have a little fun. From July 19 - 24, the Martin de Porres Society of Savannah will host its 9th annual Camp Lighthouse. The program is a week long day camp for children in grades kindergarten through eighth.

As part of the cultural experience, HAVAYA, a teen group from Israel and young people from the 92nd Street Young Men's and Young Women's Hebrew Association, from New York City will work with Martin de Porres teens as guides and camp leaders.

Camp Lighthouse is a unique summer camp for economically disadvantaged children. The goal is to provide a structured day camp experience for children who wouldn't normally be able to attend because they can't afford it or lack of transportation.

The Martin de Porres Society is a local 501- (c) non-profit organization established in 1986 by Dr. George and Yolanda Negron.
