NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A Maryland company that designs
electronic systems for the federal government is expanding in South
Carolina and expects to create 175 new jobs by the end of next
year.
The state Department of Commerce and North Charleston officials
made the announcement about BAE Systems Thursday.
The Rockville, Md., company is investing $4.5 million to
consolidate three local operations. The expansion should create 75
jobs this year and as many as 100 next year, with salaries of up to
$85,000.
The company designs electronic security and communications
systems.
Its customers include the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center
Atlantic, the Internal Revenue Service, the Federal Aviation
Administration and other federal agencies.
