SAVANNAH, Ga. - The push for national healthcare reform comes to Savannah Thursday.

Some volunteers spent the afternoon calling Savannah neighbors to raise support for President Barack Obama's health care reform plan.

The phone bank is sponsored by Organizing for America, a grassroots project by the Democratic National Committee.

Volunteers say they're just trying to get the word out.

"We're trying to help the President get his message out about healthcare reform and reach the public to get support, hopefully to provide information, and to get information to our Congressmen about the individuals we're speaking to who are supportive of the President's healthcare reform," said Lynne Hill, a volunteer.

The phone bank is part of a week of efforts to try to urge Congress to act on the President's plan.
