The Atlanta-Journal Constitution reports that school districts continued to enroll students even if they didn't have the required shots and vaccines.

In an Open Records Request, the AJC found that more than 8,000 kindergarteners and 6th graders statewide did not have the key vaccines. The report says records show that at least 1/4 of the students audited weren't properly immunized at more than 60 schools.

The vaccines are required under Georgia's school immunization law. The reason they looked at kindergarten and 6th graders is because those are the only grades audited by health departments.

News 3 education reporter, Randi Hempel, will talk to Savannah-Chatham County school health officials about what they do to make sure they have the right records. It's all coming up tonight on News 3.
