AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — The Medical College of Georgia says it has received permission from a national accreditation agency to take additional steps toward opening a campus in Athens.
MCG says the Liaison Committee on Medical Education sent a letter that says planning is on track to admit 40 students to the Medical College-University of Georgia Partnership Campus in Athens.
MCG spokeswoman Toni Baker says college officials will begin accepting applications later this month. The campus is scheduled to open in August 2010.
Baker says the accrediting agency wants more information about faculty, facilities and others issues related to the new campus. She says the medical college is expected to provide an update in August.
