The countdown is on, less than four days until Saint Patrick's Day. River Street is filling up and so are the hotels downtown. Some of the guests are coming from rather far away
On Thursday close to sixty men from the Combined Irish Prison Services arrived in Savannah.
The men are here to play in the Saint Patrick's Day Rugby Tournament.
Not only is this the first time to the states for many of them, but it's also the first time these players from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland have played together.
“Relations between the 2 services have always been good but we decided this was a good way of letting that manifest itself. We all get on like a house and fire we have more in common then is different between us,” says David Eagleson who is from Northern Ireland.
“It’s difficult security wise with the political situation the way it is but because it has improved recently this in the first opportunity we’ve had to combine services,” says John Farrell from Dublin.
The men will be in town till the end of next week.
In addition to playing in the tournament they're also marching in the parade.
