From the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office:
The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is searching for a suspect wanted in connection with a series of vehicle break-ins on Hilton Head Island.
Investigators are looking for 18-year old Andrey Golubets of Bluffton, who is currently wanted on seven outstanding warrants for Breaking into a Motor Vehicle. Arrangements were originally made for Golubets to turn himself in, however, he has repeatedly failed to show up for the scheduled meetings, and has since begun to elude deputies attempting to make contact with him.
Gobulets' charges stem from vehicles reportedly broken into at five different locations on the South end of Hilton Head on January 29th. A total of seven vehicles were found with windows smashed among the various incident locations which included: Tanglewood Villas, Marriott Grand Ocean, Ocean Dunes Villas, South Forest Beach Villas, and Seaside Villas. Items reported stolen included a laptop computer, GPS units, cash, and a purse.
Gobulets and a second suspect, 22-year old Ray Marvin Smart, were identified as possible suspects following Smart's March 5th arrest by the Bluffton Police Department for unrelated charges. Upon Smart's arrest, investigators received information of the pair's involvement in the Southern Hilton Head vehicle break-ins. Investigators learned that Smart and Gobulets used a spark plug to break vehicle windows in the series of "smash and grabs" during the late night/early morning hours of January 28th/29th.
The purse and laptop computer stolen during these incidents were later recovered, however investigators are still working to locate the remaining missing property. It is believed that most of the items were sold or disposed of to various other unidentified individuals.
Smart has been charged with seven counts of Breaking into a Motor Vehicle, and remains in custody at the Beaufort County Detention Center. Gobulets will face identical charges upon arrest.
Gobulets' last known address is 7 Stouffer Ct in Bluffton. He is a student a Bluffton High School, but is not known for regular attendance. He is believed to be in the area travelling in the company of an unknown white male in a green Dodge Neon. Gobulets is described as a white male, approximately 5'10", 140 lbs with short brown hair and green eyes.
The Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Andrey Gobulets to contact either Investigator Sgt. C. Runnion at 843-842-4111 ext 243 or the Beaufort County Dispatch Center at 843-524-2777.
