The party has started on Savannah's Rver Street, and thousands are out to enjoy the fun.
"We were a little bit leery about coming here but this was a great parade," says Barbara Moschella, who's visiting from South Carolina.
From the live music to the food, there's something for everyone. Spanky's expects to sell 900 pizzas on this day alone.
"Unbelievable, and it was a good day today. Unfortunately last night the rain hit us, but it came back to us today," says John Henderson from Spanky's.
Thousands of people will wander up and down River Street to enjoy the music and the fun. The bars and restaurants are open until 3:00 a.m.
Though some people spend months planning a st. patrick's day trip to savannah, some just stumbled on the party.
"You've always wanted to go to Savannah, little did we forget today is St. Patrick's Day. What a great surprise!" said Becky Debar from Michigan.
Many people stood in line for the wristbands required to buy alcohol.
"We've got some good friends up here. My buddy was helping his sister move in, so we decided to come on up," said Evan Smith, who drove to Savannah from Jacksonville.
A group from Ireland came for the parade and stayed to enjoy what River Street had to offer.
"It's a lot bigger than back home in Ireland, way bigger. In Ireland, we don't even wear green," said Dave Howell from Ireland.
