A Bacon County woman is behind bars in the Effingham County Jail after impersonated herself as being a law enforcement officer.

Jessica Wilkins, 20, of Alma, was the front seat passenger in the vehicle when she identified herself as a Ware County law enforcement officer. When investigators contacted Ware County officials, it was discovered she did not work there and was not a law enforcement officer.

Impersonating a law enforcement officer is a felony in the state of Georgia and those in violation can case stiff penalties.

Wilkins was charged with one count of impersonating an officer and was taken to the Effingham County Jail.
