If you have a family history , if you're African American, Latino, or Native American you're at increased risk for Diabetes. Dr. Tony Sussman says you must have the power to want to win. That involves eating right, exercising, and leading an active lifestyle. Today was a chance for people to take the step and gauge their risk for Diabetes without paying a dime. Kmart was one of many places teaming with the American Diabetes Association today for the 21st annual Diabetes Alert Day. It's a quick and simple test. Many people News 3 talked to realize that Diabetes should not be taken lightly. "My father had Diabetes and the young lady just informed me that diabetes, high cholesterol and all the stuff run together. So if you've got one you may have another or all 3. So it's good to have them checked," says Kay Polston. "My mother has Diabetes, and I just wanted to check mine you know to make sure I'm doing fine and I don't pick up that same trait," says Henry Walker. More than 100 people showed up at Kmart for Glucose and free Blood Pressure screening.
