Savannah Army Ranger KIA Honored

When it comes to supporting out troops, a Bryan County business is going above and beyond.
On the Eve of Memorial Day Weekend they're honoring a soldier who was killed this past January.
News Three's Military Reporter Alice Massimi was at the ceremony and has more on their enormous show of support.

They're an unassuming group of heroes, U.S. Army Rangers who have served on the frontline of the War on Terror again and again.
A tough bunch that for the first time since 2002 are mourning the loss of a comrade...
Staff Sergeant Anthony Davis, first Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment,” announces the Chaplain.
A soldier first, but also a dear friend to people like Barry Whitehead.
“He also had a very playful side and a serious side and the serious side was the side you didn't want to see if you were the enemy of this country,” says Whitehead about his long time friend.
But on January 6th this warrior was killed. A loss not just felt by those who served with him.
Marty Daniel, who owns Daniel Defense, was touched after speaking to Whitehead.
“He was telling me about one of their buddies that they had lost this year and we were talking about doing some type of memorial with our rifles we build,” recalls Daniel.
After further discussion, a more visible tribute was born...a true sign of patriotism and sacrifice.
“This is a great example to set for our community here and what Daniel Defense has done here is above and beyond,” says Whitehead.
At 30 by 50 feet it's fair to say it's the crowning glory of Daniel Defense's new building, a constant reminder that we do live in the land of the free because of the brave.
“We are going to remember those who have given their all. Our guys who are out working on the floor, are building parts, are going to remember that it does matter how they do their job. So we can provide the best products for those guys so they can come home safely,” says Daniel.
