The Emmanuel County Sheriff's Office says a man was killed Sunday on his farm when his tractor flipped and pinned him underneath. The victim, Capers Phillips of Capers Phillips Road in Lyons had reportedly been working on his pond dam for several weekends. Relatives told deputies they left the home just after lunch and Phillips was in the barn working. When Phillips didn't return after dark, relatives began searching. Rain hampered their efforts for a while but when storms let up they found the victim at the base of the pond dam where it appeared his tractor had flipped, pinning him underneath. It took rescuers two hours to extricate Phillips who was pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner estimates the time of the accident and death at mid-afternoon. Authorities say there is no evidence of foul play.
