Who can forget the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina? Four years ago, the storm hit the southern coast of the United States creating a path of destruction. It was reported that more than 1,800 people lost there lives, and more than $81 billion dollars in damages occurred... making it the costliest and one of the five deadliest hurricanes in U.S. history.
As part of our nation continues to heal and rebuild, a group of Savannah Arts Academy students will explore the fear, anger, and the hope that some of the victims felt through a unique multi-media play called "The Katrina Project: Hell and High Water".
The play is based on real interviews done with some of the evacuees.
This is also the play that students will be taking to the American High School Theatre Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. The play is one of many fund raising activities planned this year to fund the 24 students who will be performing.
