Fort Hood Grieves

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Army Major Nidal Hasan, the man accused of murdering more than a dozen and injuring more than 40 during a shooting spree at a Texas Army post, is still in intensive care this morning, as the community dealing with the tragedy struggles to heal the scars left behind.

On sunday many turned to a higher power, as they continued to search for strength and answers.

For the first time since the attack, we are hearing from one of the victims.

"When anything like this happens, we just get stronger," said Private First Class Joseph Foster.

Private Foster was shot in the hip.

Investigators have asked him not to talk about what happened or what he saw.

Just out of the hospital, he walks with the help of a cane right now, but expects to make a full recovery and return to duty.

"I'm a soldier," he said. "It's my job. I'll continue doing my job- continue doing what I do."

Army investigators, police, and federal agents have interviewed more than 170 people: Victims, witnesses, and co-workers of the alleged gunman Major Nidal Hasan.

The grieving fort hood community will pause on tuesday as thousands, including President Obama, are expected to gather for a memorial to honor the injured and fallen.
