STATESBORO, Ga.-
To infinity and beyond! Visitors of Georgia Southern University's Planetarium will take a journey to the center of our Galaxy when it unveils unprecedented mural-sized images of the Milky Way's core as seen by NASA's Hubble Space Telescope, Spitzer Space Telescope, and Chandra X-ray Observatory.
The photographs of the central region of our Galaxy commemorate the International Year of Astronomy, which marks the 400th anniversary of Galileo's use of the telescope to explore space.
The images will be unveiled tomorrow night at 7 before the public evening presentation, The Lives of Stars.
The new images will be on permanent display in the planetarium lobby and can be seen weekdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
