Metro Police say vandals damaged three police vehicles overnight while they wre parked on Chief of Love Road off Highway 17. Just after 6 o'clock Thursday morning, Metro Patrol Officers arrived at the lot to find the marked cruisers with broken windows and a trunk popped open on one of the vehicles. Nothing was stolen but the three cars were removed from service for repairs prior to the officer's evening shift.
The cars were parked in the authorized lot because City of Savannah policy prohibits officers from taking their vehicles outside of the county, therefore; officers who live outside the county are allowed to park their vehicles in approved locations within the county limits. Many of these officers car-pool to their respective home from these locations in their privately owned vehicles. Detectives and the Forensics Unit are investigating the incident.
