SAVANNAH, Ga. -- A jury has reached a verdict in a week-long trial of two men accused in a 2007 shooting that left one man dead.
Police said three gunmen shot Teeone Spencer while he was riding in a car in area of 39th Street and Price Street on February 27, 2007. A second person was also hurt in the shooting. Metro Police had been looking for Spencer for nearly two months. Authorities believed he had killed former Savannah High basketball star James "Murdock" Ferguson in January 2007.
Deaubrey Antonio Gardner, Marquis Deandre Hunter and James Lee Wallace were charged with malice murder, felony murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and aggravated assault.
Chatham County District Attorney Larry Chisolm's office announced late Thursday night that a jury found Gardner and Wallace not guilty on all counts.
A news release said Hunter entered an open ended plea to voluntary manslaughter before the trial.
Authorities said Gardner is currently serving a federal sentence.
