SAVANNAH, GA (November 17, 2009): Two suspects were caught and arrested by Metro Police Monday night when they responded to a call of a burglary in progress. Just after 6:00 p.m., officers were called to the 900 block of Victory Dr. A called to 911 operators reported that he saw burglars in his home. The homeowner got out of the house and called police. Responding patrol officers and K-9 set up a perimeter then entered the home through a rear door that police say had been pried open. After conducting a sweep of the lower level of the home, officers located an adult, a juvenile and a weapon inside the house.
Both suspects were taken into custody. Police arrested Ricky Yuran SMITH, 17, of Savannah. Both suspects were charged with Burglary, Possession of a Firearm by a Minor and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime. SMITH was transported and booked into the Chatham County Detention Center. The juvenile was transported and booked into RYDC.
