SAVANNAH, GA (November 17, 2009): Metro Police are investigating a traffic accident that left one person dead Monday night. Just before 11:00 p.m. officers were called to the intersection of Abercorn and Science Drive on a report of a traffic accident involving a pedestrian. Investigators say a Dodge truck was traveling north bound on Abercorn in the far right lane, when a man ran across the road outside a crosswalk into the path of the truck. The 41 year-old man was struck by the truck and unresponsive when officers arrived.
Police are in the early stages of the investigation. Metro Police say the pedestrian killed was 40 year old Shane Price. His family told invewstigators he moved to Savannah from New York 5 weeks ago. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to call Traffic Investigators at 912-525-2421.
