More information On a story we've been following since early last week. Two inmates from the Coastal Transitional Center arrested in seven days. Eugene Waters charged with aggravated assault and armed robbery for allegedly robbing a woman in the civic center parking lot as she left a job fair. Dion Bernard Antonio Orr - charged with robbery and burglary at the Savannah Suites on West Montgomery Crossroads over the weekend. Some local politicians are expressing concern over the way inmates are monitored. “I think the state needs to be very decidedly responsive, they need to ensure myself as an elected servant and the individuals who live in those surrounding communities that while we're not against individuals transitioning back into the community, but while they're there, that these neighborhoods are safe,” said City Alderman Van Johnson. After a week of trying, News 3 finally had an interview scheduled today with someone from the Department of Corrections to get some answers to questions about the way inmates are monitored - late this afternoon, the D.O.C.. rescheduled for Thursday - we'll let you know what they say.
