HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (November 25/12:00 P.M.) - Five people have been arrested on drug charges in the Lowcountry after a six month investigation. Authorites say several controlled purchases of illegal drugs were made from the five individuals at locations on both the Northern and Southern parts of Hilton Head.
They say a search warrant was obtained after serving outstanding warrants on suspect Rodney L. Jakes at his apartment at The Oaks (400 Williams Hilton Parkway, #68) once information was obtained that additional illegal drugs were located in his residence. Law enforcement says it found several firearms along with cocaine and marijuana from the apartment.
In addition to the arrest of Jakes, suspects Mellelana A. Hardin, Patrick A. Nguyen, Anthony J. Mazzochi, and Robert S. Thompson were also arrested.
The investigation, carried out by the Beaufort/Jasper Multi Agency Drug Task Force (DTF) and South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), remains active and additional arrests are pending.
