Taking a "Bite" out of Crime

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Fighting crime never tasted so good! By sinking your teeth into a Boston Butt, you can also help take a bite out of crime.

CrimeStoppers of Savannah Chatham County is now involved in its biggest fundraiser of the year- its 6th annual Boston Butt Sale. Last year's event raised more than $4,500 for the non-profit organization- dedicated to solving crimes through anonymous tips provided by members of the community. This year's goal is to raise $5,000.

Twenty dollars will get you a freshly smoked Boston Butt. Orders can be pre-paid or made the day of the event. Proceeds stock the reward fund. CrimeStoppers pays cash for new information that solves a crime or leads to the arrest of a wanted suspect.

Local citizens created the program to help solve crime through the combined efforts of private citizens, the police and the media.

Since 1983, anonymous tips have helped the CrimeStoppers program (formerly Silent Witness) solve murders, assaults, robberies, drug deals and other offenses. In some cases, tips have even prevented crimes.

News 3's Coastal Sunrise Anchor, Kim Gusby talks with CrimeStoppers Executive Director, Demery Bishop about the fundraiser and how you can help.
