ATLANTA (AP) - The American Cancer Society says it has cut 140
jobs nationwide, including about 80 in Atlanta where the
organization is based.
Cancer society spokesman Greg Donaldson says contributions are
estimated to have fallen by more than 10 percent for the fiscal
year that ended Aug. 31.
Donaldson says some of the positions that were eliminated were
vacant. He says the national operation employs more than 1,000
people.
Donaldson says the organization's Atlanta-based regional
division is not affected. He says programs and services will not be
reduced.
