SAVANNAH, Ga. - Savannah fire crews responded to a report of an explosion at a biodiesel plant on Savannah's westside.

Savannah Fire spokesman Mark Keller said the call came around 2:45 pm Tuesday at Xenerga Biodiesel, located at 1926 ½ West Gwinnett Street.

Officials said a so-called reactor is where the explosion happened. Keller said a reactor is a container where the finished biodiesel product is held.

Authorities said there were few flames when they arrived, since the explosion caused a water sprinkler supply line to burst and shower the area with water. Firefighters did spent some time putting out a few hotspots.

One worker apparently suffered a broken leg. No other injuries were reported.

West Gwinnett Street was closed to traffic for a short time. Investigators are working to determine what caused the explosion.
