COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford's lawyers
are heading to the Supreme Court to argue the House shouldn't get a
report from the State Ethics Commission's investigation of
Sanford's personal and political use of state planes.
The Supreme Court hears those arguments Monday. Sanford's
lawyers want the court to order the commission to keep its report
secret. Meanwhile the House will argue that it's authority to get
information isn't limited by state law.
Sanford disappeared for five days in June to rendezvous with his
Argentine lover. Investigations by The Associated Press since his
return have found he didn't follow state laws on travel and failed
to report private plane flights with buddies and donors.
The commission is investigating those issues and others.
