Area dogs and their owners got into the competitive spirit for a mini-dog show Saturday.
SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Area dogs and their owners got into the competitive spirit for a mini-dog show Saturday.
The Savannah Kennel Club held a match at Daffin Park. About 75 dogs were registered for competition in different categories.
Adults and kids brought their dogs to see how they measured up in the show ring. The event is held every year ahead of the club's dog show, which is next month.
"It's not recognized for dog championship points, but it's a fun day for coming out with your dog and showing your dog in confirmation, rally and obedience," said Mary Simpson with the SKC.
The Savannah Chapter of the University of Georgia Alumni Association was also at Daffin Park to collect donations of dog food for the Savannah Chatham Humane Society. UGA alumni groups all around the country are collecting dog food donations through the end of November.
If you want to donate, you can drop off donations at Carol's Pampered Pets at 341 Commercial Drive, or call Diane Parker at 912-598-4121.
