UPDATE: Two Accidents in Effingham and Chatham Counties Cleared

Highway 17 north of Highway 80 will be closed for a period of time following a two vehicle accident with injuries

All lanes of Ga. 17 have now been reopened. According to the Effingham County Sheriff's Department, the driver of a pick-up truck rear ended a log truck on Ga. 17 between Horseshoe Road and Jabez Jones. The driver of the pickup truck was treated for non life threatening injuries. He was cited for following to closely.

And on Highway 80 approaching Whitemarsh Island, a driver lost control and flipped into the marsh. Witnesses stopped and two of them pulled the woman to safety. Her injuries are also described as non-life threatening. Authorities don't know, yet, what led to the accident.
