Reverse Jail Break

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A convicted killer was seriously injured trying to break back into Floridas Brevard County Jail.

Accused of murder, Sylvester Jiles spent two years in jail waiting for trial. He claimed the other man's death was in self-defense.

The victim's family insisted Jiles be tried for murder. In a case where one man's word was against another, prosecutors did not have enough evidence for the murder charge.

So a judge convicted Jiles of manslaughter and let him out of jail on Friday after time served.

The victim's family was outraged.

On Monday, Jiles attempted to break back into the jail by climbing over three layers of razor wire fencing. Jiles said the victims family threatened his life, and he demanded to be rebooked.

Major Gred Purden with the Brevard County Sheriff's Office described Jiles attempt to cross the top of three layers of razor wire around the jail exterior.

Purden said, he came over the top of the fence and fell down with all of his body weight through three layers of that and suffered some pretty serious cuts to his body.
