KABUL (AP) - U.S.-led coalition forces are continuing efforts to
try and persuade the Afghan population to support the national
government. But civilian deaths and intrusive searches of homes are
breeding resentment among Afghans.
In the latest setback, a Swedish charity has accused American
troops of storming through a hospital in central Afghanistan,
breaking down doors and tying up staff in a search for militants.
The U.S. military says it's investigating.
That allegation follows the reported deaths of civilians in a
U.S. airstrike in the northern province of Kunduz last week. Afghan
officials say up to 70 people were killed Friday when the U.S.
attacked two fuel trucks that had been hijacked by the Taliban.
Meanwhile, NATO says two foreign troops were killed yesterday
when their patrol hit a roadside bomb in the country's south. And
three civilians also died in a militant rocket attack on the
capital.
